Café Medina

Brunch is a meal eaten between breakfast and lunch, and is a substitute for both these meals. The word brunch is a portmanteau of breakfast and lunch. br + unch = brunch!

I’ve been wanting to go to Cafe Medina for a while now. I heard rave reviews about the place, and I finally got the chance to go with my friend from out of town. On a Monday afternoon, the place was buzzing with people. I was surprised, because it was not a weekend yet it was still packed. We did not wait long to be seated.

We ordered:

imageFricassé – 2 sunny side up eggs, braised short ribs, roasted potatoes, balsamic onions, Watercress, applewood cheddar and Grilled foccacia.

imageSaumon Fume – Open faced sandwich. over easy egg, smoked salmon, caper cream cheese, sliced avocado, and arugula.

imageWaffles – salted caramel

Loved my Fricassé

My friend enjoyed her Saumon Fume

The waffles were not the best, I’d pass on this next time

Relaxed atmosphere

Service was a turnoff – The server seemed annoyed that we had not ordered a drink and only asked for water. They were not as attentive as I’d like them to be. Although, I can see that they were quite busy, but they seemed bothered when we had requests such as the bill, more water, or a napkin.

The food was good, I’m not sure if I can overlook the service. I hope that it was just an off day, and maybe the service will be better the next time we go back. However, by reading the other blog reviews, it seems the service needs serious improvement.
