International Summer Night Market opened this weekend on Friday May 10th. I had the opportunity to check it out Friday evening before the rainy weather arrived for the weekend. Some background information on Night Market was posted in a earlier post check it out here.
Of course, I went straight to the food vendors.
Xin Jiang: Cumin Lamb Skewers
Another popular Xin Jiang Cumin Skewer place. It is a stand by Chef James. XinJiang is in the Western region of China, near Afghanistan, and you can see the influences of the two areas in the cuisine.
Roasted Corn and Potatoes
Freshly squeezed juices
Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
Fresh Soy Pudding
Dessert Waffles: Red Bean, Bavarian Cream and Chocolate Cream
Tornado Potatoes with Ketchup
International Summer Night Market is an annual night market held through the summer months in Richmond, British Columbia Canada. It is a event that has a strong Asian influence and is considered a “must see” tourist attraction in Richmond.
Foods to try:
- Hurricane Potatoes
- XinJiang Skewers
- Roasted Corn
- BBQ Squid
- Vietnamese Desserts
Overall, I thought the food was OKAY. There was nothing exceptional from the vendors this year.
Pros and Cons:
The downside to the International Summer Night Market is that you have to pay for parking, but the admission is free. At the Richmond Night Market (River Rock), it is skytrain accessible, parking is free, but admission is not.
I will let you know my full review after I check out Richmond Night Market next time.
